Welcome to our Hebrew High website.!

The Consolidated High School of Jewish Studies of Charlotte is a supplementary Jewish high school for students in grades 8-12, sponsored by Temple Beth El and Temple Israel.  CHS offers a wide variety of courses in all aspects of Judaism as well as a unique opportunity for students to interact with their peers.  In additiona to its education component, CHS offers diverse social and community service activities.  CHS students are encouraged to develop strong Jewish values and a sense of unity with the Jewish People.

Our program is housed at Shalom Park and meets weekly on Wednesdays from 7-9 PM.  Registration is open to all Jewish teens in the Charlotte area.  Eighth and ninth grade students take one year long core class and a minimum of two electives per year.  Tenth grade students study and prepare for Confirmation, while eleventh and twelfth graders are engaged in a challenging Post Confirmation Curriculum.

In addition to weekly classes, students participate in a variety of activities, which are designed to meet our overall goals.  Our very active CHS Student Council members spearhead tzedakah projects; and our eighth and ninth graders particpate in an annual retreat experience. All students and parents benefit each year from special programs that often include national guest speakers.

OUR GOALS...

* The students will have an enduring Jewish identity that includes Jewish knowledge, religious participation and social consciousness.

* The students will respect all branches of Judaism.

* The students will love and appreciate Judaism and Jewish life through learning and practice.

* The students will apply Jewish sources in their own decision making processes.

* The students will become involved members of the Jewish community in projects of tzedakah and gemilut Hasidim.

* The students will value and visit Israel.

* The students will show respect for self, others and God.
